He represents the 83rd Ohio House District\, which includes Hancock\, Hardin and northern Logan counties. In addition to serving as Vice Chair of the House Veteran and Military Development Committee\, Mathews serves on the Development\, Government Oversight and Natural Resources committees. \nMathews was born and raised in the 83rd Ohio House District and shares the same core values; God\, Country\, Family\, as so many people in the counties of Hancock\, Hardin\, and Logan. \nHis previous work experience includes service as the Ohio Treasurer’s Special Assistant and Policy Aide. As a U.S. Army Infantry Officer in the National Guard\, Mathews was named a “Top Rated” soldier by his commanding officers and graduated with the highest scores in his class earning the title of Distinguished Military Honor Graduate and Soldier of the Cycle. A veteran\, Mathews served as a battle captain in Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. He currently serves as the commander for HHC\, 1-145th Armor Regiment in the Ohio National Guard. Since then\, he received an MA at SAIS (School of Advanced International Studies\, John’s Hopkins University)\, worked for the Embassy of Japan in the USA\, Southeast Asia Division and Legal Division in the HQs\, then served at the Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva from 1999 to 2002\, where he assisted the then UN High Commissioner for Refugees\, Madam Sadako Ogata. That changed his career as he quit the Japanese Foreign Service in July 2005 after working for the Embassy of Japan in Thailand from 2002 to 2005. \nHe was appointed as Deputy Representative of UNHCR\, working for then UN High Commissioner for Refugees\, Mr. Antonio Guterres who is now UN Secretary General. \nConsul General Kishimori returned to the Japanese Foreign Service in July 2009\, serving at the Embassy of Japan in Egypt as Director for the Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) until December 2010. The East Japan Earthquake hit the Tohoku area on March 11\, 2011\, after which he was engaged with strategic communication at the HQs in Tokyo\, including reputational damage control of the Fukushima nuclear accident and the establishment of JAPAN HOUSE in LA\, London and Sao Paulo. \nHe was assigned to the UN again in August 2015 as Counselor at the Permanent Mission to the UN in New York from 2015 to 2019\, then seconded to UNDP in New York as Senior Advisor & Director for the Japan Unit from 2019 to 2022. \nHe was transferred to San Francisco in March 2022 as Deputy Consul General and assumed the current post of Consul General of Japan in Detroit in December 2024.

In his previous roles\, Dr. Lorenz served as Executive Medical Director of Market and Network Services for Cleveland Clinic\, in which he led Cleveland Clinic’s contracting for specialty care\, including innovative payment models for both government and commercial contracts. \nDr. Lorenz received his undergraduate degree from Yale University with a Bachelors of Science in Molecular Biochemistry and Biophysics\, completed his medical degree with Honors at the University of Rochester\, residency in Otolaryngology at the Cleveland Clinic\, and fellowship at Vanderbilt University. During his 22-year tenure he held General Management positions in Milan\, Montreal and Chicago. \nHe formed their Magnetic Material Division in Chicago and led the acquisition of two flexible ferrite magnet companies in Ohio\, which were combined to become Flexmag Industries Inc. \nIn 1995 Chris was appointed president and CEO of Stackpole Magnets\, later renamed Kane Magnetics. He was responsible for expanding the company both organically and through the acquisition of two magnet companies in Sheffield UK and Dijon France. He went on to establish successful global businesses within the TyTek Group in 2001. \n  \nAbout Matt Eccles – Marketing Director\nFollowing a degree in Communications\, Matt marketed brands at the start of the dot.com boom before forging a career both in the UK Government and the private sector. \nWorking for the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) he built a deep understanding of manufacturers requirements with regard to marketing and was instrumental in encouraging business leaders in SMEs to move into digital marketing. He helped them to understand how customer insight could help to grow business in challenging economic conditions. \nMoving into consultancy\, he marketed industrial businesses with a three-tiered strategy of awareness\, acquisition\, and advocacy.
